Leveraging Copilot AI to Boost Your Efficiency

Your very own Terminator? Learn what AI can do for you.

There’s no denying AI is here to stay. Time to panic, or time to party? You be the judge. You can live in fear of countless sci-fi movie fates… Or you can start leveraging the power of AI to make your work life easier.

AI at your command with Microsoft Copilot.

All the major tech players are developing their own proprietary AI platforms. The good news is, you don't need to be a committed Silicon Valley tech bro to get on board (so put those NFTs down). Chances are, you are like 36.13% of the Canadian workforce and use Microsoft Windows as your base operating system. And that means you have an AI assistant already integrated and ready to assist you: Copilot.

As of July 2024, if you’re using an up-to-date version of Windows 10 or 11, Copilot can be found in the bottom right corner of your screen. Click this icon:

and you can start using it to do a wide range of tasks including generating copy, generating images, and more.

(Don’t see the icon? Check that you're running the latest version of Windows 10/11, try hitting Win + C,  or search for 'Copilot' in the start menu. Still can't find it? Check Microsoft's official guide.)

Now you're up and running, here’s a brief rundown of tasks Copilot can perform for you, saving you time to focus your efforts elsewhere:

•    Summarize your emails from the past week and create a prioritized task list
•    Draft email replies so you can quickly review and send
•    Schedule appointments
•    Draft word documents
•    Create graphs and reports from Excel data
•    Transcribe and list tasks from Teams meetings
•    Create PowerPoint presentations from other data in OneDrive or SharePoint

All you need to do is type a sentence asking for the above into Copilot's chat prompt. Copilot can then direct you how to achieve these tasks.

What the AI future holds for businesses and workers.

Our COO, Julian Gelfand, sees a very bright future ahead if AI is harnessed correctly: “I think AI will create more time for humans to connect and spend meaningful time with each other,” he says. “People who refuse to learn or adapt will find themselves in a tricky spot and have to play catchup… But if you get on board today, in five years we could very easily see companies doing ten times the revenue and profit with the same number of people.”
